App Navigation

You can select which views appear in the app's navigation and in what order. The navigation appears as a flat structure whose appearance depends on whether you are developing the mobile or web variant of your app.

Web Navigation

To set up the navigation of your web app:

  1. Open your app in Kinvey Studio.
  2. In the left-side navigation, click the Navigation tab and select Web Navigation from the menu that appears.
  3. In the Web Navigation window that opens, move views from the All views list to the Navigation Panel Bar list to make them appear in the app navigation.

You can also move views back to All views to hide them from the app navigation.

  4. Select each view in the Navigation Panel Bar list and ensure that you have set the view's Display name to your preference.
  5. Click Save.

Mobile Navigation

To set up the navigation of your mobile app:

  1. Open your app in Kinvey Studio.
  2. In the left-side navigation, click the Navigation tab and select Mobile Navigation from the menu that appears.
  3. In the Mobile Navigation window that opens, move views from the All views list to the Drawer navigation or Tabs navigation lists, or both, depending on in which type of navigation you want them to appear.

You can also move views back to All views to hide them from the app navigation.

  4. Select each view in the Drawer navigation or Tabs navigation lists and ensure that you have set the view's Display name to your preference.

  5. Click Save.

The view that appears at the top of the Tabs Navigation list serves as the home screen. The home screen is what the user sees first as soon as the app loads or right after logging in (in case you've set up authentication). The default home screen is home from the Application module. It shows Kinvey Studio boilerplate text that you need to replace for a production app.
